  3. BLU RAY
The Blu -ray is an optical disc format designed to store high quality video and data. The basic model of a face and a layer. stores about 25 GB, while a dual-layer could reach 54 GB. Even TDK has introduced a 4-layer model , which reaches the 100 GB.
They have a high price for their scratch resistance and durability.

    HD DVD
There are a layer HD DVD , with a capacity of 15 GB ( about 4 hours of HD video ) and dual layer with 30 GB capacity . In the case of HD DVD- RW capabilities are 15 and 30 GB, respectively, for one or two layers. The transfer rate of the device is estimated at 36.5 Mbit / s .
Moreover, HD DVD is similar to a conventional DVD . The outer layer of the disc has a thickness of 0.6 mm , the same as the DVD and the numerical aperture of the lens is 0.65 ( 0.6 for DVD) .
All these data lead to the production costs of HD DVD discs are somewhat smaller than the Blu -ray , since its features are very similar to those of the current DVD .
    .
    DIFFERENCES .

Both are based on blue laser technology , the same size , and the size of a CD / DVD, ie 12 cm . The diameter and video compression format is the same for both.

    the big difference between the two is ;

The Blu -ray has 25 GB compared to 15 GB of HD DVD

The Blu -ray is more expensive (2 to 4) , and that it is a much newer technology .

The HD DVD is in principle more sensitive to scratches and bumps , although this seems to have been corrected, the Blue ray is more resistant

Maximum resolution of support for both video is 1080p

  4. Both Blu-ray and HD DVD emerged between 2000 and 2002, attracting different support among the leading manufacturers of consumer electronics manufacturers of personal computers, the software companies and producers and distributors of film and television . For example, Sanyo and Toshiba primarily supported the HD DVD format, while Sony and Philips bet on the Blu-ray.

The beginning of the end of the war occurred in early 2008, when several studios and distributors switched to Blu-ray. Shortly thereafter, on February 19, 2008, Toshiba officially announced it would stop the development of HD-DVD players, recognizing the victory of Blu-ray.

    HD DVD

HD DVD (for High Density stands for Digital Versatile Disc), translated into Spanish as digital versatile disk, high density, was developed optical storage format as a standard for high-definition DVD companies Toshiba, Microsoft and NEC, as well as several film producers. You can store up to 30 GB.

This format finally succumbed to its closest competitor, the Blu-ray, to become the successor to the standard DVD. After the fall of many supporters of HD DVD, Toshiba decided to stop manufacturing more players and continue research to improve its format.

    BLU - RAY

The Blu-ray disc, also known as Blu-ray or simply BD (in English: Blu-ray Disc) is an optical disc format developed by the new generation BDA (stands for Blu-ray Disc Association), employee for high-definition video and a data storage capacity of high density greater than that of DVD.

The Blu-ray disc is 12 cm in diameter as well as CD and DVD. Kept 25 GB per layer, so Sony and Panasonic have developed a new evaluation index (i-MLSE) that would expand by 33% the amount of stored data, from 25 to 33.4 GB per layer.

  5. Both are based on blue laser technology, have the same size as a CD / DVD, ie 12 cm. in diameter, the video compression format is the same for both.

Among their differences noticed that the Blue-ray has 25 GB compared to 15 GB of HD DVD, Blu-ray will be more expensive because it requires changing many of the machines that have DVD production, plus it is a technology much newest.
The Blue-ray is in principle more sensitive to scratches and bumps, although this seems to have been corrected.

About favoritism, I think it depends on the buyer's perspective if we look on the economic side choose the HD DVD, if the capacity would be the Blue-ray.

  7. * HD DVD
It is the heir of the DVD because it uses a very similar technology, so that they could adapt to factories manufacturing this support with very few changes.

Currently there are up to three layers and their capacity ranges from 15 GB to a layer up to 45 Gbytes for three layers.

Strengths: Being designed based on the traditional DVD would be much less implementation costs for both manufacturers and users.

Weaknesses: Being a format "like" DVD, the the problem of piracy is not solved as virtually the same machinery could make illegal copies as performed today.

    * BLU RAY
It is a format, although it may seem similar to DVD, technologically it has nothing to do, is quite different, which is required to manufacture new equipment and would be required to view the new players.

Capacities range from 25 GB model of a layer to 100 megs of 4 layers.

Strengths: The main strength is its large capacity, almost double the HD DVD. Medium term piracy may be the rise again these days but in the short term, the piracy problem would be solved, because all the technology is new

Weaknesses: As a completely new technology, all current machines and manufacturing would not be worth all current DVD players either.

  8. Basically the two formats are accurate in appearance, shape and thickness to traditional DVD. The main difference between the DVD and these new formats is that the latter employ Blue Laser (hence the name Blu Ray using Sony) versus traditional red, allowing them to greatly increase its storage capacity.

  9. No practical difference in picture and sound quality friend, The difference lies in the direction of the nightclub security and Production Costs Only. The HD-DVD itself discard ago and no time due to MAINLY little support it got parte of Production due to protection, HD-DVD is almost An extension of That Is The DVD, It's both and All secrets of How to copy content Esteban settled. Unlike that, the Blu-Ray is a new technology and is superior Subjects Protection FURTHER due to the power and color of the laser is Possible MAKE LAYERS Several nightclubs. EVEN longer be patented and is not ready to be marketed BluRay 128Gb, and yes the Future Hold More ESA Technology, theoretically because a queue limit would be within the range of 500Gb.
I recommend serving Blu-ray The Reason That has been discontinued HD-DVD.

  10. The DVD offers a high quality, as it is capable of a resolution of 720x480 or 720x576, which is far outweighed by the ability of high definition offered by the Blu-ray, which is 1920x1080 (1080p). The Blu-ray disc using a blue laser beam with a wavelength of 405 nanometers, unlike the red laser used in DVD players, which have a wavelength of 650 nanometers. This, along with other technological advances, allowing substantially more storage than DVD in a disc of the same dimensions and appearance.

  11. My opinion on these digital media , I think , big business forces, joined forces at some point in order to overthrow the HD DVD, because this , in contrast to the Blue Ray , these were less secure , for make illegal copies .
Honestly I'm not in favor of this, because as I see, it forces beyond the technology itself , leading us to turn to purely poor progress .
Indeed, it is obvious that, if we compare both capacities , we see that the BlueRay, can go up to 128GB while the HD DVD's only go up to 50GB . But if we now consider the dates of discontinuance of HD DVD there in 2008, both had the same capabilities.
Now thanks to hackers and very wise people , we have available blue ray's accessible to market, without overestimating the artistic work, which does so much harm to the current trends .
Now we have this Blue Ray technology in our hands , waiting to be improved in favor of humanity , with the help of the great future geniuses.

  13. From what I could research and opinions collected I can say that in the world of technology a few years ago was fought battle between manufacturers of optical media for storage of multimedia content in high definition and that this is the successor to the DVD . On one side we have the Blu - Ray developed by a group of technology companies BDA ( Sony- Philips) ; and secondly this HD- DVD Toshiba and powered by Microsoft .
Both had the ability to store up to 4 hours of video playback quality with the difference that the Blu - Ray had more disk space than the HD- DVD, that is the Blu - Ray has a single layer capacity of 25GB while HD- DVD which only 15GB which was enough to save what you stored the DVD's .
Although the HD- DVD had a striking feature which was more formats that support Blu- Ray , the latter earning him a much more attractive feature as is resistance to scratches and dirt.
Finally in 2008 after losing significant support HD- DVD lost the battle before the Blu - Ray who currently dominates this market.
Today working on improving the capacity of up to 33 % per layer that is stockpiled around 33.4GB instead of the traditional 25 GB.
My opinion the blu-ray is the best because it finally has received more support and greater capacity.

  14. The Blue- ray is an optical disc format designed to store high quality video and data.

The HD DVD is the other main candidate to succeed the current DVD, an HD model .

    similarities

    * Both are based on blue laser technology .

    * Both have the same size, and the size of a CD / DVD, ie 12 cm . in diameter.

    * The video compression format is the same for both.

Storage Space Blu Ray discs have a higher capacity than HD -DVD. It is so simple the first layer will have a capacity of 25 GB ( 6 hours of HD video ) while the second has 15 GB storage ( 4 hours of high definition video ) . In case of a double layer disc Blu Ray can store 50 GB and 30 GB HD- DVD .
Creating an HD- DVD drive has a lower cost of production to Blu Ray . This is because the Blu Ray discs require a hard coating to protect stored data which causes the discs have greater durability for its resistance to scratches and dirt.

  15. The Blu-ray discs are better than HD-DVD disc and each disc can store up to 50GB of information, this ability allows you to view uncompressed video up to 7.1 audio channels in HD and Blu-ray disc is capable of sending uncompressed 1080p signal.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Blu-ray Disc has a higher maximum disc capacity than HD DVD (50 GB vs. 30 GB for a double layered disc). Both Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD have two main options for interactivity (on-screen menus, bonus features, etc.) Blu-ray Discs contain their data relatively close to the surface (less than 0.1 mm) which combined with the smaller spot size presents a problem when the surface is scratched as data would be destroyed. To overcome this, TDK, Sony, and Panasonic each have developed a proprietary scratch resistant surface coating. TDK trademarked theirs as Durabis, which has withstood direct abrasion by steel wool and marring with markers in tests.[12]

HD DVD uses traditional material and has the same scratch and surface characteristics of a regular DVD. The data is at the same depth (0.6 mm) as DVD as to minimize damage from scratching. As with DVD the construction of the HD DVD allows for a second side of either HD DVD or DVD.

  17. between the two formats no difference in image quality, but the amount of content you can include disc.
A Blu-ray disc in its different formats has capacity of 25GB, 50GB and 100 GB.

  18. Definitely Bluray by the leap in quality that have given the dvd look good on small TVs but Use it to play a movie on a tv 50 "the result will not be expected.
Technology is a recent creation and therefore is expensive, nothing compared to the dvds, there is a video format much better than the bluray is 4K which is seldom used because of the large size of the resulting video. So I prefer the Bluray.

  19. The blue ray and HD-DVD devices is a technology that helps a lot in mass storage, high capacity storage for all file types but its exploited utility 100% is for video and sound, since the images are in high definition , is used by film companies to record their movies as the image quality is excellent as the sound is much better than when recorded on DVD. the blue ray has more storage capacity than HD-DVD though both are double-sided recording. The blue ray is a bit more expensive because it has a layer that is harder to scratch, but most are similar in cost to the HD-DVD. The companies promoting Blue ray, incorporated in Play Station 3, a blue ray, promoters that HD-DVD HD-DVD incorporation in microsolft Xbox.

  20. HD DVD (for High Density stands for Digital Versatile Disc) format is an optical storage format developed as a standard for DVD and HD capacity ranging from 15 gb to 30 gb version in its double layer in the format 15 gb can get to record up to 4 hours of high definition video, over time this format became obsolete with the arrival on Blu-Ray used for HD video and storage capacity with high data density greater the DVD and a storage capacity up to 50 gB and can record video at a resolution of 1920x1080 (1080 pixels).
In my opion the Blu-Ray is the storage medium to the present as it allows greater capacity and better performance almacenacion as resolocion in high definition that is linked to televidores and new generation computers and endures even more in time and supports scratches on its layers.

  21. Technically speaking, both HD-DVD and and Blu-Ray would have enough capacity to hold the same ultra-high quality movies. (With stunning 1920x1080 resolution, a lot of people will have to upgrade their TV sets too see it, even recently purchased ones.) The manufacturing process of HD-DVD requires little new investment to existing DVD processes, making the format cheaper to the consumer. Blu-Ray disks are more expensive partly due to the different cover layer depth, requiring new manufacturing processes. On the other hand, the disks holds sixty-seven percent more data.

    similarities
    • Both are based on the Blue Laser technology.

    • Both have the same size, and the size of a CD / DVD, ie 12 cm. in diameter.

    • The video compression format is the same for both.

    differences

    • The Blue-ray has 25 GB compared to 15 GB of HD DVD

    • The Blue-ray will be more expensive (2 to 4 times) then forced to change many of the machines of the production of the DVD, plus it is a much newer technology.

    • The Blue-ray is in principle more sensitive to scratches and bumps, although this seems to have been corrected.

I personally think we have to assume that there are two formats in the market incompatible with each other and with the same function .. choose? bytes or storage costs? Which of the two new formats replaced the old dvd?

Well, in my personal opinion I think that the Blu-ray leads him enough advantage to hd dvd, mainly because being a new technology has greater security, plus the storage capacity is greater being able reach up to 500Gb in the near future because your laser allowing record on several layers. I vote by the Blu-ray ... Greetings

  23. No difference in practice the picture quality and sound, the difference lies in the disk backup and production costs only. The HDDVD was discarded some time ago mainly because he had little support from the producers, mainly due to protection. It is known that the HDDVD is practically an extension of what the DVD, so now all the secrets of how to copy content had already been resolved. Unlike that, the BlueRay is a new technology and superior protection issues is also due to the power and color of the laser, it is possible to make records of several layers. Even already patented and is soon to be marketed BluRay 128Gb, and in the future is expected of this technology, because theoretically the limit would be within the range of 500Gb.
Summary: Both support 1080p video and 7.1-channel DTS sound. I recommend Bluray for the reason that it has discontinued the HDDVD.

  24. The HD-DVD was a competitor to the Blu-Ray format. At a time and came out 2 exisitian materials in both formats.

Today the HD-DVD no longer exists since Blu-Ray won the battle. The whole industry to adopt the latter as the standard and as nothing is produced in HD-DVD.

As for image quality, both could reach the same image quality are only a storage medium, so if space is enough to put a video in full hd then the image quality is exactly the same, in this if the blu-ray won for its storage space

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think the quality is the same, the only difference is the capacity, in fact if shooting video. m2ts (the format used by blue-ray) in a dvd and a Blue-ray if you play you will not notice the difference, why? because the only difference is capacity.

Blu ray discs are more expensive, but store more data.

which is better? it is simply a matter of opinion

  28. In it the two are dvds , your question makes no sense , the bluray is a type of image format and the DVD is physical , what is played , or the disc itself .

Look : In format types found these image quality ( all done by me) :

TS- Screener : Image film and recorded sound. Very poor quality .

DvD Screener : Image taken DvD and low cine.Calidad sound .

Web - Rip : image ripped a web video , the quality salaries depend on the type of site where the picker is removed and used. Usually chapters films.

HDTV: Picture and sound ripped HD television. Usually good quality picture and sound . Average quality +

Sat- Rip : image and sounds ripped from cable TV , satellite. It is usually a good picture and good sound, medium quality +

Blue- ray screener : very good picture quality and sound cine.Calidad Low Avg .

DVD- rip: Picture quality and sound player, sometimes the picture and sound are bad, sule occupy between half 700.Calidad .

HD- rip: Picture quality and sound very good, usually occupy between 8 and 12 Gb.Calidad medium high .

Dvd 5 : Image quality and good sound, usually take between 4 and 8 Gb but has the language options and extras, etc.Calidad medium high .

DVD 9 : Image quality and very good sound, usually 6 to 10 Gb shall occupy but has language options , extras, etc. . High quality.

Blue- ray : Picture quality and sound very good, usually take between 16 to 20 Gb also has language options , extras, etc. . Super high quality .

  29. Blu Ray is the newest optical disc format today, widely thought to be the successor to the DVD. While there are other projects with the intention of replacing it, as the holographic versatile disc, which can store up to almost 4 terabytes of information, the Blu Ray will still remain for many years in the market thanks to its capabilities, competitive price and expansion constant between users.

The Blu Ray is nothing but an optical disc storage 12 cm. in diameter, the same size as a DVD or CD, which was developed by a consortium called Blu-Ray Disc Association in order to obtain a storage medium capable of containing the large amount of data required by films made in the spectacular high definition, and other inherent cost reduction actors.

Some of the similarities between the two formats was that the quality of both was HD, the blu-ray was winning the HD-DVD was in the capacity as the former had a capacity of 50GB and the other 30GB, so it is can say that the blu-ray won the battle because today no longer manufactured the HD-DVD.

Well personally I think both albums are very good only depends on the case so that it is used if you need a disk to save a lot of past information the 15gb should use the Blue-ray as it supports up to 25gb, but if the information you need save is not much would be enough disc HD DVD because it has very similar features and the advantage is that it is more economical and resistant

  35. my opinion is that blu-ray will be obsolete tendency, since nowadays the great geniuses of the web make the seventh art, comes right through hugepages that handles lots of movies premieres either pay or discharge makes purchasing a movie or a DVD is very little adquisetivo clear if we talk about the person we are connected to the web and we have tricks of downloads or search for it.

but between blu-ray and dvd, blu-ray because I prefer the image quality are enjoyed more, the details of a movie and the graphics are fantastic.

Are the formats that fight to be imposed as substitutes to the current DVD, standard-bearer for Toshiba. He is the inheritor of the DVD since a very similar technology uses, with what the same factories might adapt to making this support with few changes, his capacity goes from 15 Gbytes up to 45 Gbytes.
    Advantage
To The being designed as base the traditional DVD his implantation would suppose many fewer costs, both for the manufacturers and for the users.
    Disadvantage
To The being a format "similar" to the DVD, the problem of the piracy would not be solved since practically with the same machineries illegal copies might be realized like they are realized today.
    BLU RAY
His capacity goes from 25 Gbytes up to 100 gentle ones, they are the formats that fight to be imposed as substitutes to the current DVD, standard-bearer for Sony.
    Advantage
his great capacity, almost the double that the HD DVD, the problem of the piracy would solve, since the whole technology is new, with what so much to extract the information of the Blu-Ray since to copy it the hackers should invest other one a lot of time and money.
    Disadvantage
A new technology, quite the current machines of manufacture would not cost the being and all the breeding animals of current DVDs either.

  39. There is no much difference between the two formats, either with respect to the quality of picture and sound. The difference lies in the disk backup and production costs only. The HDDVD is practically an extension of the DVD, which means that all the secrets of how to copy content are settled. The BLUE-RAY has a higher data protection. In addition, thanks to the power and color of the laser, it is possible to make records of several layers, which means more capacity than DVD. In conclusion, both DVD and Blu Ray support 1080p video (High quality) and 7.1-channel DTS sound. But BLUE-RAY is the best option because HDDVD is already discontinued.BLUE-RAY won the war of the HD discs, so you only find in the market BLUE-RAY.

  40. Basically both formats are exact in appearance, forms and thickness to the traditional DVD. The main difference between the DVD and these new formats is that these last ones as opposed to use Blue Laser (of there the name of Blu Ray that uses Sony) traditional the red one, which allows to enormously increase its capacity them of storage.
    HD DVD
Is the heir, tecnológiamente speaking, of the DVD since it uses a very similar technology, with which the same ones you make could adapt to make this support with very few changes.
At the moment they exist until of three layers and its capacity goes from the 15 Gbytes for the one of a layer to the 45 Gbytes for the one of three layers.
Strongpoints: To the designed being taking as it bases the traditional DVD its implantation it would suppose many less costs, as much for the manufacturers as for the users.
Weak points: To the being a format “similar” to the DVD, the problem of the piracy would not be solved since practically with the same machineries illegal copies could be made just as they are made today.
    BLU RAY
Is a format, that although can seem similar to the DVD, technologically does not have anything to do, is absolutely different, with which stops to make them precise of new machinery and to see them would need new reproducers. He is similar to the passage of the VHS to the DVD, the VHS reproducers were not compatible and was necessary to acquire new.
Its capacity goes from the 25 Gbytes of the model of a layer to the 100 megas of the one of 4 layers.
Strongpoints: The main strongpoint is its great capacity, almost the double that HD DVD. In the mid term it is possible that the piracy returned to have the height of these days in the short term but, the problem of the piracy would be solved, since all the technology is new, with which as much stops to remove to the information from the Blu Ray as to copy it to another one the hackers they would have to invest to long time and money.
Weak points: To the being a totally new technology, all the present machines of manufacture would not be worth and all the present reproducers of DVD either.

  41. In this world, the technology every day is going up, for this reason, when we talk about the hd-dvd and blu-ray, there are two different world. HD-DVD, though is a disc of high density digital format, was a product with very little time to live, a product that was good for many people, the successor of it, It did disappear very quickly. Blu-ray instead is a new product that in recent years has had much acceptance by consumers, it is a different technology, higher capacity than HD-DVD, which make it a better product.

  42. Well my opinion about these new formats is that the two one way or another looking for the succession of the DVD which currently is little use, these formats offer superiority in image, sound and interactivity and seek high resolution, I've read about its features and I can say that the Blu-ray disc exceeds little to HD-DVD, Bluy-ray disc meet higher capacity storage, resistance to scratches and dirt, higher rate of transfer of data, audio and video, but the two have the same resolution and format of video, thickness and diameter of the disc to the end customer will decide which is the best option, because you can be sure your need points to HD-DVD, so it basically depends on the requirements of the end user, it is the client

  43. Blu-ray is an optical disc format new generation of 12 cm in diameter (same as the CD and DVD) to HD video and high data storage density. Uses a blue laser of 405 nm, unlike the DVD, which uses a red laser of 650 nanometers. In the case of blue-violet laser used in Blu-ray discs, the wavelength is smaller compared to previous technologies, thereby increasing numerical aperture (0.85 compared with 0.6 for DVD). With this, and thanks to a system of dual lenses and a thin protective housing, the laser beam can focus much more precisely on the surface of the disc. In other words, the points of readable information disk is much smaller and therefore, the same space can contain much more information. This allows you to record information on a disc the same size.
